Only added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2016, “glamping” (a portmanteau of “glamorous” and “camping”) has been defined as “a form of camping involving accommodation and facilities more luxurious than those associated with traditional camping.” But we’re not going to take the word of a linguist in a cubicle as gospel. To get to the bottom of this, we interviewed leaders and proprietors across the glamping industry, dug through countless studies on travel and camping trends, and heard from the glampers themselves.
